Dynamo Kiev 6 – Besiktas 0

Arguably the standout result on Tuesday night in the Champions League came in the Ukraine, as Dynamo Kiev beat Besiktas 6-0.

Kiev, winless in their opening five Champions League matches, faced an extremely difficult task in order to continue in any European competition.

Besiktas, meanwhile, could have qualified for the knockout phase of the UCL with a win.

Cue the whitewash for Kiev, who had previously only scored two goals in the UCL this season.

So was the match fixed?

There’s no evidence of match fixing surrounding the Dynamo Kiev-Besiktas game.

Indeed, Besiktas keeper Fabricio Agosto Ramirez (see above) seemed hugely emotionally invested in the game as he cried after the fourth goal went in.

Nevertheless, many viewers watching the game at home felt the scoreline was incredibly fishy.

It didn’t help that Besiktas had Andreas Beck and Vincent Aboubakar both sent off in either half, while the visitors had a good penalty claim waved away.

Scottish referee Craig Thomson also received plenty of abuse for his performance.

Cue a load of claims the match was fixed, while the hashtag #turcophobiauefa has gone viral.
